The Caretaker's Garden is an expedition area that can be reached with either the Dark Forest Outpost quest Dark Forest Path, or the Cave quest Stone Cavern Path (the quests are independent of each other, but the area unlocks in full whether only one or both are completed).

The area includes quests and creatures which first appeared during the Caretaker's Garden Event. It was released as a permanent single area in March 2023, with refreshed and additional content.

(Not to be confused with Caretaker's Garden (Event), which was the National Novel Writing Month event in 2021.)

When the path is long and hard, there are a few ways to tackle it. One method's having a strong start, which turns into a nice boost later on when rest is needed. Then I can adjust my pace to one that'll let me reach my longterm goal. I think I'll need at least 25 battles to get the blood flowing.

I hope they're going to be able to recover from this, but I'm worried, seeing how many of these creatures have been infected...

Defeating 44 of them in 24 hours or less should sway the odds in our favor, bringing Dust Warrior luck in here. Time to bring out the weapons and make my own fortune!

Maybe, after we win the garden back, I can ask one.

I mean, we're all bait already, aren't we? I just need to keep these Kinnya away long enough from the bait for my plan to work.

Bouap is one of the grumpiest creatures around, and I've heard they weren't very happy in the Caretaker's Garden, which explains branching off. Sure, some will stick around here, but others have decided that the Swamplands would be better. The Caretaker has asked me to give fifty of them a free ride to the swamp, so they can arrive safely.

Now that the Dust has settled, I want to test myself against the creatures and beings that normally exist in the garden. The colors they wear now suit them much better, and it's giving making the purple hue of the garden fade into something more pleasant to the eyes. I wonder if any of them will fight differently than before?

Pranking Dust Warriors seems to be Iseot's favorite activity. Even when corrupted, I saw that most of its energy was spent on jokes. I've been trying to catch one, but so far I've caught a Dailzae, Prenpor, myself twice, and a few wandering mushrooms. If I want to prank Pina and Luko in their tavern, I've got to catch one!

Unlocks Unicorn Spotted!

If you want to learn a lot about the Caretaker's Garden and the creatures hiding in it, the plant being to ask is Zaroen. They have their ears to the ground and they can find almost anything. I've heard rumors of a rare creature in the Garden, one that is hard to spot unless you know where to look. I'll see if Zaroen can point me in the right direction, though I might have to bribe a few of them before I get what I'm looking for.

Deep in the Caretaker's Garden is the forest Unicorn—a being of old protected by the Caretaker throughout the years. They're hard to spot, blending with the forest, and when spotted, they gallop through trees at speeds impossible to follow. Luckily, Zaroen taught me how to track them, and if I defeat 4, I'll earn Wood Binoculars for better spotting!

Little mushrooms are popping up everywhere around the Valley, and as much as they're probably being very helpful to the Caretaker's Garden, I don't think they should be taking up space in places that don't need the help? Can you how many of them would love the Swamplands? Or how many would be haunted in the castle's corridors and courtyard?

There have been numerous Dust Warriors working on defeating and deleting these mushrooms, but they really don't seem to be going away. If anything, I'd guess that they're multiplying! I'm going to have up my challenge numbers. Maybe 25 of the small things would be enough to make them go somewhere else? Or at least think twice about being here?

So, there's... Interesting news. All those mushrooms that have appeared throughout the Valley? They've brought cats chasing after them. Very, very, hungry cats. How badly wrecked are the different environments going to be around here after this feline invasion? I have seen some Dust Warriors letting the cats collect mushrooms for them, but I don't think that's going to help.

I hate to say it, but I was right. Everyone's been letting these cats eat the mushrooms, and now the cats are way too full to move (not really a surprise either since there are some nice sun spots around). I'm going to try and get the cats to move and leave, even if they give me the cutest smiles.

Dust Warrior backyards might need a bit of sprucing up, and I think it would be great if there were more trees we could plant. Let them spread, and lots of creatures will come to find food, or use the tree for storage and safety. I can't wait to see how the colors look during the year's range of seasons!

One of the more adventurous Dust Warriors has discovered that if they pour hot water into a mixture of Cappu dust from COL and a handful of leaves that Ccinos have trampled in their game of leaf chase, they can have a fantastical drink that refreshes, gives energy, and changes color. Really, who thought drinking this was a good idea?

I'm used to forest and swamp creatures having mushrooms on their bodies, but I didn't think that anything living almost completely in the water would be able to grow mushrooms like that... and now that I think of it, maybe it's coral? On the other hand, why not? Why can't mushrooms thrive in such environments? This quest calls for science!

Now that the Caretaker's feeling like their normal self, they've been offering sparring practice to as many Dust Warriors that want it. I think they feel guilty about "letting" Dust win, though I know we've all said it wasn't their fault. It's a hard lesson to learn, knowing when to call on others for help. But they know now, thankfully.
