The Caretaker's Garden is an expedition area that can be reached with either the Dark Forest Outpost quest Dark Forest Path, or the Cave quest Stone Cavern Path (the quests are independent of each other, but the area unlocks in full whether only one or both are completed).
The area includes quests and creatures which first appeared during the Caretaker's Garden Event. It was released as a permanent single area in March 2023, with refreshed and additional content.
(Not to be confused with Caretaker's Garden (Event), which was the National Novel Writing Month event in 2021.)

My earlier idea of fighting the small mushrooms has born fruit and there are a lot more of them around right now. Their efforts are helping the garden clear out the corruption, and if I'm honest, making it smell much nicer in here, as well as adding a some extra moisture to the atmosphere. I've discovered a problem in the Mushroom Garden. Somehow, some Corrupted Zaroen were able to make their way inside (did they dig in?) and they've been picking all the primordia (baby mushroom) before they can fully grow. This certainly not helping the garden, and in addition, this action's limiting Ofefof's food supply and causing battles to break out almost everywhere!

There are small creatures with long stalks that have made camouflage into a game. When they stay still, it's very easy to over look them since they blend into the garden's grass. If you want to learn a lot about the Caretaker's Garden and the creatures hiding in it, the plant being to ask is Zaroen. They have their ears to the ground and they can find almost anything. I've heard rumors of a rare creature in the Garden, one that is hard to spot unless you know where to look. I'll see if Zaroen can point me in the right direction, though I might have to bribe a few of them before I get what I'm looking for.

Deep in the Caretaker's Garden is the forest Unicorn—a being of old protected by the Caretaker throughout the years. They're hard to spot, blending with the forest, and when spotted, they gallop through trees at speeds impossible to follow. I hate to say it, but I was right. Everyone's been letting these cats eat the mushrooms, and now the cats are way too full to move (not really a surprise either since there are some nice sun spots around). I'm going to try and get the cats to move and leave, even if they give me the cutest smiles.

Dust Warrior backyards might need a bit of sprucing up, and I think it would be great if there were more trees we could plant. Let them spread, and lots of creatures will come to find food, or use the tree for storage and safety. I can't wait to see how the colors look during the year's range of seasons!

One of the more adventurous Dust Warriors has discovered that if they pour hot water into a mixture of Cappu dust from COL and a handful of leaves that Ccinos have trampled in their game of leaf chase, they can have a fantastical drink that refreshes, gives energy, and changes color. Really, who thought drinking this was a good idea?

I'm used to forest and swamp creatures having mushrooms on their bodies, but I didn't think that anything living almost completely in the water would be able to grow mushrooms like that... and now that I think of it, maybe it's coral? On the other hand, why not? Why can't mushrooms thrive in such environments? This quest calls for science!

Now that the Caretaker's feeling like their normal self, they've been offering sparring practice to as many Dust Warriors that want it. I think they feel guilty about "letting" Dust win, though I know we've all said it wasn't their fault. It's a hard lesson to learn, knowing when to call on others for help. But they know now, thankfully.
