Caretaker's Garden (Event)

The Caretaker's Garden was the National Novel Writing event for 2021.

It runs October 31st at 4:44 PM - December 6th.

Event monsters dropped Rescued Seeds at a rate of 1 seed/100 words. Rescued Seeds could be traded at the Token Store for wardrobe and house items.

Preceding the event was the 2021 Halloween Party, when dust warriors could collect multiple Halloween Token 2021 and either spend them on Halloween themed wardrobe and house items or save them and convert them to event tokens at a rate of 4:1.

(Not to be confused with Caretaker's Garden, which is a permanent expedition area.)

Corrupted Garden
- October 31st: The event began with a new area (Corrupted Garden), 4 new creatures, 7 quests, and two wardrobe/house item stores.
- November 2nd: A new creature (Corrupted Zaroen) and a new quest ("Sorting Rotten Seeds") appeared.
- November 3rd: a new creature (Corrupted Betula) appeared.
Seven Moon Clan Attack
- November 5th: the Seven Moon clan attacks with 7 new quests (3 of which are timed and repeatable), 5 new monsters (2 of which are new this event), and new items in both stores.
- November 6th: two new creatures (Maimok and the Bone Witch) appeared along with a new quest ("Dunes & Doom")
- November 7th: Yasri appeared in the Corrupted Garden.
Mushroom Regrowth
- November 10th: A new area (the Mushroom Regrowth Area) unlocked along with 9 monsters (3 of which were new), 5 quests and two new wardrobe stores. The Corrupted Garden was renamed the "Corrupted Garden Perimeter" as the corruption was pushed back to the edges of the garden.
- November 11th: Three monsters from the Sky Tournament returned along with one new quest.
- November 12th: Ofefof became available. Later in the day, two repeatable quests earning real life seeds.
The Healed Garden
- November 17th: The third area (The Healed Garden) opened, along with 11 new creatures, 7 quests, and 2 new shops.
- November 18th: Dodmori appeared.
- November 19th: Paefor appeared.
Save the Caretaker Community Challenge
- November 22nd-25th: The Caretaker appeared (not as a creature you could fight, but in the narrative), but they were trapped by Giant Corrupted Vines! Dust warriors must fight off 3,000 of the vines to save the Caretaker.
- New reactions appeared along with a new gratitude quest and new six-year wings.
Rescue the Garden Seeds Community Challenge
- November 25th-27th: The Caretaker was saved! In thanks, they offered 7 seeds that they have been keeping safe.
- The Farpu seed will grant each Dust Warrior their own garden, which is an outdoor area that can be decorated like a house. Each dust warrior was also granted 3 map slots to have more rooms in their house. The Farpu seed will need to grow, and should be ready November 29th.
- The Nenuv seed will create a sky bridge and allow passage to the Sky Areas from last year's Sky Tournament. They will be available to any Dust Warrior who has finished the Floating City of Balance. The Nenuv seed will need to grow and will be ready on December 10th.
- Legacy house items of the farpu and nenuv trees will be given to all Dust Warriors on November 29th.
- A new community challenge began. As a community, the dust warriors had to defeat
  - 3,333 Fueko for the Wydis Tree
  - 1,000 Alkonis for the Ilmach Seed
  - 2,000 Kinnya for the Vaadhi Seed
  - 1,250 Goele for the Griaku Seed
  - 2,500 Ghost for the Xerbesh Seed
- After each challenge is completed a new tree will be available in the Token Store for purchase for 100 Rescued Seeds.
- Five new quests were made available, each of which asked dust warriors to battle a monster from the community challenge 10 times.
- November 29th: Outdoor maps opened. Legacy trees were given out. The garden trees in the unmarked boxes from the quest chain unboxed.
- December 3rd: Garden Collectionis released
December 6th: the event ended, closing the areas. The stores stayed around until December 10th
