Core Crystals are mainly available for purchase with real world money, rather than being collected in the game. They are sometimes given as quest rewards in small quantities.
Core Crystals are used to purchase more subscription time and to buy wardrobe and house items in the permanent and event stores. They have some other uses in the game, such as purchasing Reactions and Coins in Mama Tree.
During the Caretaker's Garden Event, they were used to purchase the plantation of additional real world trees as part of the quest Your Once and Future Trees.
