I don't think there are any mushrooms that grow in the desert, but that's just the problem, I'm not sure and I can't find Nabia or Etta to ask them. There could be rocks giving places shade and moisture where fungi can grow, right? Oh! And I'll have to check the underground ruins area too, I'm sure that'll have something!
