Illi

Illi is a creature available in Mama Tree.

Illi's word count used to be 700, and was decreased to 400 in early October 2023. In addition, their time was changed from 130 minutes to 30 minutes and their XP and drops were altered.

Mama Tree is full of hidden creatures - I found one today, an Illi, blending against banded Osifier bark. Both the tree and creature are a brown-green mixture, entwined colors giving off a ropy appearance (and treated correctly can be rope as flexible as leaves, as strong as wood). The Illi hunts with both heads, shaking its leafy one to lure in Lorsa, and when the curious bird is close, the smooth brown head strikes! Gorgi said they were a sign that the spirit within the tree is reawakening, but Edrie thinks they're a curse, the spirit's anger come to life.

Historical Lore[]

The illi is a two-headed snake known for its ability to camouflage with the trees in the Luciola Forest. One head lures its prey by softly shaking its leaves, the second blends with the tree bark around it, waiting, ready to strike. The illi's skin is as strong as wood and as flexible as a leaf, when treated properly it can become strong rope. Some say the illi are branches of Mama Tree that have become conscious again. That they are a sign that the ancient spirit within the tree is close to reawakening. Others that they are a curse, sent by the spirit within the tree to protect itself against those that hurt its land.
