4thewords Wiki

Creature mastery is a challenge to battle a monster of your choice many times. This challenge is unnecessary for completing the rest of the game, and is mainly undertaken by dust warriors late in the game who are low on content.

Dust warriors pick a monster that they like for whatever reason and then challenge themselves to reach a certain mastery level. Sometimes, dust warriors can add an additional challenge of completing the mastery challenge in a set amount of time. For example: reaching level 6 mastery of an event monster before the event ends.

Some monsters disappear after their quest is turned in. If a Dust Warrior wants to achieve a mastery in that monster, it requires a little more forethought and planning to keep that monster in their queue.

If you want to get an idea of what monsters are available in what size ranges before you start a mastery, you can check out these lists of Monsters by Size: (Small, Medium, Large, and Variable) to get a feel for them. Most Dust Warriors aim for masteries in smaller creatures, below 300 words, though there are several pursuing a monster in the middle of the pack (400-800), and a few going all out with a monster over 1,000 words!

Mastery Levels[]

Note that the mastery page will show you the monster's current level as well as how close you are to the next level.

The rewards that the dust warrior receives will be specific to the monster they battled. The images used here are just examples.
