AS101: Cusps & Comets (1/3)[] |
4x Knuff | 1x Astrology Exam Credit
|
240 words | |
I'm registered for Astrology classes, and the first things I've been told about are cusps and comets. I mean, with those two words comes an awful lot of learning about the starts in the sky, the paths they take, and the constellations they're a part of, but that'll mostly come later. For now, let's look between them and their meanings.
| ||||
AS102: Aspects & Asterisms (2/3)[]
|
3x Gullio | 2x Astrology Exam Credit
|
450 words | |
Passing my first class, my books are telling me now about aspects of starts and asterisms, also known as observed pattern of stars in the sky. I love this class and I'm having a lot of fun picking out specific clusters, but staying awake for most the night is making me sleepy during the day. Maybe I'll sleep in tomorrow?
| ||||
AS103: Basic Astrology Test (3/3)[]
|
2x Professor Aylin | 3x Astrology Exam Credit | 1,000 words
Professor Aylin is ready for us to explore our fate. Part of this test will be reading the stars, another part will be using math to plot elements in other people's lives, and the last part will be avoiding the "unavoidable" in our own lives. I'm not looking forward to this, but I'm ready for it all to be over.
| ||||
Astrology Final Exam: Exam & Lab[]
|
1x Professor Aylin 10x Knuff 2x Greifkon | 2x Wizkal 5x Astrology Exam Credit | 1x Astrology Graduation Scroll (Battle Item) 1x Graduation Scroll Astrology (House Item) | 3,100 words |
Time for astrology's final exam, and it's going to be lab work with Professor Aylin. I'll need enough exam points to graduate, but after that, any astrology class I take will be because I want to learn more, or level up my skills, and not because I'm forced to take the classes. Fingers crossed I'll pass on the first try!
| ||||
AS105: Changing Fates (1/3)[]
|
4x Wizkal | 1x Astrology Exam Credit
1x Wizkal Bowl
|
1,200 words | |
There are always people who don't like the path fate has placed them on, but it's super hard to change destiny. Not impossible though. I've heard that Wizkal can help people, but they need to be willing to face their fears and embrace the pain of wrenching themselves from one fate to another. Hopefully there's some choice to it though?
| ||||
AS205: Crossroads & Fates (2/3)[]
|
12x Wizkal | 1x Astrology Exam Credit
1x Starry Hammock (House Item)
|
3,600 words | |
The crossroads of destiny is a place where the unimaginable can happen, where bad luck can turn to good luck, and where chance can guide a person. One problem is that a being can't see too far into the future, and what might seem enjoyable, or wanted, can eventually become something painful. I think there are ways to check, though.
| ||||
AS305: Living with Fate (3/3)[]
|
25x Wizkal | 1x Astrology Exam Credit 1x Cape of Fate (Wardrobe) | 7,500 words
Every culture has ways to tip the balance of fate, no matter if it's tipping it in a way for another person to get their comeuppance, or for someone to leave curses behind as they continue their life path. Weirdly, I'm not sure how many times a person can change their fate, or if there's a time limit on it.
| ||||
AS201: Synastry & Signs (1/2)[]
|
8x Knuff | 1x Astrology Exam Credit
|
480 words | |
There are so many stars in the sky and it's going to take a while to work my way through this information. Each star is a sign, and then there is this synastry idea, of determining people's likely compatibilities and relationships. Sometimes it's a powerful interaction, but that doesn't always mean good things. Maybe I need a wishing star too.
| ||||
AS301: Conjunctions & Constellations (2/2)[]
|
16x Knuff 2x Wizkal | 5x Stardust 5x Raw Fabric | 1x Astrology Exam Credit 1x Star Pillow (House Item) | 1,560 words |
Whew! I've made it past all the single stars, and how they pair together, which means I'm working on groups of stars in constellations and conjunctions... Wait, I take it back, let me go back down a level! Some have four, five, or more stars, but there's even one constellation with 281 stars. There's no way I can remember positions!
| ||||
AS202: Stars & Satellitiums (1/2)[]
|
4x Gullio | 1x Greifkon | 1x Astrology Exam Credit
|
1,300 words |
Hats off to me, haha, I'm starting a class about stars and satellitiums (which is a group of several stars in a sign). This will take us to other galaxies, how they shine so brightly and look so much closer than the distance they really are. I wonder what my sign is here? It's different from my home world, right?
| ||||
AS302: Quintiles & Quasi-Moons (2/2)[]
|
3x Greifkon 10x Gullio 5x Stardust | 1x Gold 10x Raw Fabric | 1x Astrology Exam Credit 1x Starry Curtains (House Item) | 3,600 words |
Next to study are quintiles and quasi-moons. Some of the others in this class didn't know what those were, so I looked up the definitions. A quasi-moon may travel in complex paths relative to the planet, and a quintile creates a dynamic linkage between the planetary energies involved. As someone else said, I understand those words, but not the meaning...
| ||||
AS203: Meteors Lab (1/2)[]
|
5x Professor Aylin | 1x Astrology Exam Credit
1x Professor Aylin's Hat (Wardrobe)
|
2,500 words | |
I've started a class which focuses on meteors and the impact they have on determining people's fates. I never thought about it, but if a meteor is seen to pass through a constellation, then there's an emotional impact. Time to find my telescope, a low-light lamp, and some materials to record my findings on. Tonight's a great night for meteors and I have Professor Aylin to show me around, after I pass his test.

After meteors, I've started studying moonquakes. I didn't think they were any different from earthquakes, but apparently they've much deeper, between 600-1000km! They can last much longer too, but overall they're much weaker. What all of this has to do with reading fates in the stars I have no idea, but that's why I'm taking this class, right? To learn.

A204: (1/2) Kismet Kissed[]

1x Mertino | 1x Astrology Exam Credit
1x Mertino Glowing Eyes (Wardrobe)
|
1,667 words | |
There are tales that a person can find their fate in the stars, and that's what I'm studying in this class. I'm honestly not sure if I believe that fortunes can't be changed, or escaped, but maybe it's more about general idea, like having travel in your future, and nothing specific such as playing memory 17 hours a day.
| ||||
A304: (2/2) Doomed Destiny[]
|
3x Mertino | 1x Astrology Exam Credit 1x Mertino Skull (House Item) | 5,001 words
It must have been written in the stars that I'd pass that first class because now I'm studying doomed destinies (yes, the first thing that I thought about was relationships). Do these meanings apply only to individual people? And bad things can be in a range, so if someone's looking forward to something, and it doesn't happen, is that doom?

1x Galaxy Alderbam 1x Galaxy Mund 1x Galaxy Chysis 1x Galaxy Whodini | 1x Galaxy Lole 10x Essence 5x Stardust | 1x Galaxy Path (House Item) | 2,500 words |
Going around the school, I've met a lot of star shining familiars, flying about and shimmering near the ceilings. There are rumors that if I can defeat each one, then I'll be able to bring their beautiful patterns into my study area. I hope it'll make me feel as if I'm stepping out among the stars, dancing in the cosmos.

While I've already graduated Astrology, there's more that I can do with the class to prove my skills in the subject, and not only show off knowledge of my own work, but in my field as a whole. In Astrology, for instance, maybe I'll research how planets and stars affect how potions are made, or cross-reference starfalls of the past.

Introduction to Mirror Magic[] |
Have 1 Astrology Graduation Scroll in your Hero inventory | 5x Knuff 5x Stardust | 1x Mirrors Exam Credit
|
300 words |
After graduating Astrology, with my passing grades I'll be able to move smoothly into Mirror Magic classes. What students will study in the class, this flier says, will require a deep understanding of light, which is where I guess the stargazing comes into play. I'll read over my old star charts and make sure I'm ready for this new subject.

M101: Mirror Magic (1/3)[]
|
10x Kaekalo | 1x Mirrors Exam Credit
|
550 words | |
Mirrors can be used for a lot of magic spells, not only ones that affect a being's appearance, like glamours. The interesting things is that they can double, or give more power to spells, so something that takes a lot of energy to cast will still take a lot of energy, but it'll also make the results magnify, which is amusingly another type of mirror.
| ||||
M102: Silver or Not? (2/3)[]
|
4x Teglasa | 2x Mirrors Exam Credits
|
808 words | |
The traditional mirrors always had silver backing them, but that metal is not the only thing that'll help a castor. If there are gems embedded in the frame, crystal magic can certainly help a person focus, and the metal behind the glass can give specific bursts of pep, like copper helping with creativity and gold helping with fortune.
| ||||
M103: Basic Knowledge (3/3) - Mirror Magic Test[]
|
3x Junno | 3x Mirrors Exam Credits | 909 words
Today's lesson is more like a lab since we're being allowed to play around with different mirrors to see how well we can cast our magic with them. I'm going to test out copper, but there's always steel (helps with focus), and tin (helps with mending). After I find the best metal for me, I'll start looking through the crystals.

Mirror Final Exam[]

Whew! I'm finally done with all my classes and it's time for my Mirror Magic Final Exam. This is going to be twice as hard to pass since I'll be tested on knowledge from both this class and the Astrology class I had to take in my first year. I have confidence in myself though, and passing will be fate.
| ||||
M201: Reflections & Auras (1/3)[]
|
20x Kaekalo | 1x Mirrors Exam Credits
|
1,100 words | |
A basic mirror should serve two purposes, and the first one I'm learning about is that a reflection should be shown for every being that's walking past. If they're invisible, then their reflection will depend on the strength of their spell. However, even low-level aura spells will show colors, so people can't hide as well as they think they can.
| ||||
M301: Invisible & Non-reflective (2/3)[]
|
30x Kaekalo 5x Junno | 1x Eye Earrings
1x Mirrors Exam Credits
|
3,165 words | |
There's a difference between invisible beings and those who have natural reflections that don't, well, reflect. Ghosts, for example, can will themselves invisible, and they don't have auras (since they're not alive), so it's very hard to see them pass a mirror. People using non-reflective technology, I've heard, can easily be caught by hand mirrors. I'll have to try it!
| ||||
M401: Symmetry & Breaks (3/3)[]
|
50x Kaekalo 10x Junno | 1x Big Magic Mirror (House Item) 1x Mirrors Exam Credits | 5,780 words
Last, but not least, a mirror's purpose is to provide symmetry. It's a great way to increase the power of a spell because breaking a mirror is, probably to on-one's surprise, a good way to end a spell. Personally, I think I'll use tape, or thread, to "break" my mirror since I don't want seven years bad luck on me!
| ||||
M202: Even Equilibrium (1/2)[]
|
8x Teglasa | 1x Mirrors Exam Credits
|
1,616 words | |
We've been going over mirrors in class today (not a surprise since this is mirror magic) and they were pretty different. Some were perfectly smooth and balanced, others had many imperfections and bubbles, and still another set had curves from top to bottom. Today will focus on the smooth ones though, and the others are apparently for future lessons only.
| ||||
M302: United Uniformity (2/2)[]
|
12x Teglasa | 1x Mirror Hands (House Item) 1x Mirrors Exam Credits | 2,424 words
We've made it past the smooth mirrors, and now it's time to talk about mirrors that have imperfections. The ones in class today, I've heard, were made by apprentices in 3PC, so some are too short, too wide, others go from one extreme to the other, and there's even a hand mirror that mimics ocean waves. Let's learn some spells!
| ||||
M203: Shards of Silver (1/3)[]
|
2x Soimith 4x Teglasa | 1x Mirrors Exam Credits
|
2,222 words | |
Every student started this class with a silver-backed mirror, and today, at our professor's command, we dropped them from our desks so they'd smash on the floor. The amount of broken glass looks like a dangerous sea, and I don't envy whoever will be cleaning this up... though, it's going to be us, isn't it? Ugh, I'd rather do homework.
| ||||
M303: Slivers of Luck (2/3)[]
|
4x Soimith 8x Teglasa | 1x Magic Mirror
1x Mirrors Exam Credits
|
4,444 words | |
We've been told the slivers we pick up are ours, and it's going to take a strong connection to our mirrors to make certain. This'll be much harder than I originally thought because I'm not sure I have that relationship. Does it count if I feel bad about breaking it? And how long do I have to complete this assignment?
| ||||
M403: Bad Luck to Good (3/3)[]
|
8x Soimith 16x Teglasa | 1x Magic Mirror Hands 1x Mirrors Exam Credits | 8,888 words
Phew! All of us checked our mirrors this morning, and with the exception of a few smaller pieces, we'll be able to reassemble our mirrors. Today's lesson will be about turning bad luck to good, and I've got all my fingers crossed that this will be useful outside of broken mirrors. At the very least, maybe I'll stop losing socks?
| ||||
M104: As is Above (1/4)[]
|
2x Valas 2x Soimith | 1x Mirrors Exam Credits
|
3,636 words | |
Today's class about mirror magic is less about the glass part, and more about symbolics. Though, after listening to the lecture, it seems this class is more about how items can be connected. As is above focuses on the first object or item which will be joined to an object we'll be given later. Is this comparing Wignows to Desert Wignows?
| ||||
M204: So is Below (2/4)[]
|
4x Valas 4x Junno | 1x Mirror Eyes
1x Mirrors Exam Credits
|
5,656 words | |
The whole reason that the items need to be connected is because that link is what allows the castor to direct the spell. If it's empty above, it'll be empty below; warm above, warm below. I wonder it this would work with my homework. In my mind, it's finished above, and now also finished below... it's all about the intent!
| ||||
M304: Add the Sides (3/4)[]
|
6x Valas 6x Teglasa | 1x Mirror Half Mask
1x Mirrors Exam Credits
|
7,878 words | |
My spell worked! Kind of. I was able to change my professor's intent and give myself a passing grade, but of course, I was caught (I'm not the first student who's tried this). Now I know that in addition to above and below, I need to check the sides of the spell, otherwise it can be traced back to me.
| ||||
M404: Magic to Know (4/4)[]
|
10x Valas 10x Kaekalo | 1x Mirror Stairs (House Item) 1x Mirrors Exam Credits | 11,660 words
Finally, now that I've learned about the top, bottom, and side, it's time to discuss how depth of subject gives mirrors its power. Sure, it's interesting, but do I really have to learn so much about a subject to see how it can (or can't) be practical for me? Maybe next time the first class can be about end results?
