Sakot's another creature that looks made of bones (excluding the beings that I've seen in here), so I'm leaning a bit more to the thought that they've evolved this way as a defense mechanism. Since only Sakot's neck is without feathers, it could be that if anything is hunting it, it's going to go for the long, supple tail instead of the meatless, boney neck. I watched it flutter to a nearby set of bones and perch, using a long tongue to clean its black feathers. That tail kept moving and twitching, almost as if it was inviting an attack.
