It first appeared during the 2019 Forest Expedition.
Before April 2021, Sapiti required 1 Saliva Vial to battle. It now has no requirements.

I wondered which direction to take when a spoiled, evil-smelling fruit exploded on the ground near me. I happened to see a Sapiti sticking its tongue out at me, and aiming another fruit (one that I knew full well was poisonous), so I moved to the left, and thankfully it decided to lunch the grenade. Another popped up nearby, throwing a fruit at the first one. This was sweeter, bringing to mind berries and chocolate. That was my cue to get farther... Nabia had warned us about love-struck and angry Sapiti, and I wasn't ready to be pelted with poison.
