Beloved by completionists, the Shrine of Ages is an expedition area in the desert region, unlocked with the Tunnel Locked On quest in the Ruins. Creatures from past events can be fought here to fill gaps in one's bestiary or even finish out quests Dust Warriors may have been carrying for some time. It was relaunched in its current format on February 5th, 2020.
In town, you will find a "Shrine Bracelets: Stempos or Tickets" store, where you can purchase bracelets for shrine tickets. Each bracelet allows access to a past event. The Shrine bracelets are wardrobe items found under "Special." Put the bracelet on your avatar and equip the look, and then new monsters, quests, and markets will appear.
This area also has its own currency, Shrine Stones, which can be used to buy both forum reactions and a selection of items from past events.
When it first opened, certain monsters in the shrine only appeared on certain days, and some monsters only appeared if a Dust Warrior was wearing specific wardrobe items. The Shrine was relaunched on February 5th, 2020 in its current format.

With No Shrine Bracelets[]
Without a Shrine Bracelet equipped, there's not much to do in the Shrine. However, you will find Motes, along with a quest chain to fight him.

This is the first of Motes' three levels to fighting him. I'll only need to defeat him once and then I'll receive a Shrine Ticket. Hmm... he's got a long ponytail I could grab, and a long beard too. That might be a little over the top though. I'll use some of the moves Velts taught me, that should work.

Level two, and Motes is changing the rules a little bit. I'll need to defeat him twice and give him 15 Desert Stones. Is this how he gets those stones he wears wrapped around his waist? On the plus side, if I do this, I'll receive 2 Shrine Tickets. Maybe I should use a trick or two Suwö's taught me...

Marionettes don't have to be completely crafted from wood, and there are even a few of them which have dead wood attached to them. I'm checking if that's something they've added or if it's was crafted to be part of them, almost like a homage to the dark woods they originally came from (creepy monsters come from creepy places, right?)

I've heard that people can be conflicted about what to do in certain situations, but the fact that Azuris and Asuras have two brains controlling one body seems like it would be annoying. Do they switch control every other day? Do they take turns deciding what to do? I'm also curious to know if they've every agreed on something, anything!

So, I've battled each marionette, and I honestly can't tell how they take action. I think digging up this information is going to take a lot more time, and a few more battles. I feel that I need to know, and I'm curious as to what's driving this need. Do I have a Nabia on my shoulder, shouting "FOR SCIENCE!"?

This area made use of assorted availability mechanics, such as availability by day and by wardrobe items presently being worn by your avatar, making cataloguing the wilderness difficult. Unlike other areas where each quest's lore was purely decorative, in this area careful attention had to be paid to the introductory paragraph as it contained clues about how to complete the quest. Adding to the challenge of the puzzle, the dev team changed which creatures were available here unannounced. For these reason, even Dust Warriors who normally avoided spoilers often made use of them in the Shrine.

The Shrine has been discovered and it's amazing! Each Desert Expedition member has left something behind, including a small inscription saying "Ends can be new beginnings." It makes me feel a little nostalgic for when I first became a Dust Warrior. I wonder... do I still have that leafy shirt?

Ahhh... the Shrine's affected by what I wear. Going to go out on a limb, I think there's other ways of attracting unique creatures, and time's easy to check. I might not have access to a time and random dimension in space, but I can pop in on different days.

Okay, I've seen how the shrine reacts when I'm wearing very specific items. It's pretty cool that it can somehow sense what I'm wearing. Maybe there's a specific energy that each item gives off? Anyhow, time to see what else it'll react to. Can it read what's in my inventory?

Well... that was interesting! And I have the feeling that I've only scratched the surface of what the Shrine is hiding... I wonder if wearing something from Three Points Crossing will trigger a different creature than items from other areas? And if outcomes are dependent on reaching magical number combinations?
